The coast guard boat KBV 101 was built at the shipyard Karlskronavarvet Sweden and was commissioned in 1969. A feature of this project is reinforced hull up to 12 millimeters allowing movement in ice up to 20 centimeters. The mover during this operation is two heavy three-blade propellers; when operating in high-speed mode, light five-blade propellers are used, which allow to develop speed up to 22 knots.
