ISIS 920 Hull Design
The technically advanced hull form has been developed using a combination of CAD and model testing using a computer controlled towing tank and free running radio controlled models. With a flattened contre hull form aft and a 25 degree deadrise in the mi-ship sections, the design combines the smooth ride qualities of a deep V hull at speed with the good handling characteristics of a medium V design at slower speeds. Inparticular, low trim angles are maintained in the transition from displacement to planning speeds and this can be achieved with modest engine power. The models have enabled the optimisation of the keel, spray rail and chine configuration to give predictable, comfortable and sale handling characteristics in normal coastal sea conditions.
