2012 30FT MC29 Powercat

THE FUTURE WITH POWERCATS

Catamaran and Wavepiercer designs have long been the choice for innovative people "looking for more" from their boats. More stability, more room, more speed and up to 40% more fuel economy. The evolution of the Power-catamaran has been rapid over the past 10 years, to a point where they are seen as the future new trend in motoryachts. This has already been seen by their take over in the commercial passenger ferry market. After building several Power Catamarans and Sailing Cats from 42-86ft, we see a great future in this area.

Our largest powercat build, Pacific Harmony (below) was created for us to charter the America's Cup in 2003 and motor to USA. Conceived as a long range global luxury cruiser with 3000 mile range at 8-10kts and over 1000 mile range at 20kts on a mere 3500 gallons of fuel, we motored her to Florida and sold her at the Ft Lauderdale boat show. She features 20-30% more room than monohulls of her length, 30-40% less fuel consumption and the bonus of extra stability than a monohull underway or at rest without the need for stabilisers. Being an 86 foot, long range, high speed cruiser with the volume of a 100 footer and then the economy of a 60 footer makes a very desirable efficient boat. She can be built again or visit our Powercat Multihull section for 46ft and 56ft models in development.

Key Features:

The MC29 breaks new ground in every department. Never before has a power catamaran embodied such a combination of style, function and performance.

An amazingly smooth ride without pounding or slamming, is delivered by the narrow and deep hulls combined with the full length center pod. Greatly reduced vertical acceleration compared to a monohull makes it possible to maintain a constant speed in rough conditions.

Comfortable accommodation is provided for four persons. The generous cockpit allows boarding through transom gates on either side. The main bulkhead may be open or optionally solid with a door for colder climates. On the same level as the cockpit is a four person dinette, full galley and comfortable helm station. The forward cabin has a private head and a large double berth. Generous storage areas are provided throughout.

The MC29 is built in a modern factory in Poland, with a very high level of craftmanship that complements her stylish lines. A range of comfort and navigational options allow an owner to equip her for fishing or cruising, and legally trailerable size makes those far away destinations closer.

Designed by Jerry Kostanski with naval architecture from the Avia Design Group, the MC29 was first shown at the 2006 London Boat Show. Adventure Bay tested the MC29 in Vancouver and we have been very impressed with the value for money and ride.
