The question, in short is. What is the future in offshore deepwater drilling ?
The only answer to this is subsea drilling, and in a comparatively practical drilling concept being developed in a joint industry project; Seabed Drill Rig - SDR. The difference here is a prototype could emerge by the end of 2009. Drilling offshore wells from the sea bottom actually is an older concept than drilling from the water's surface.
