Strong Deck Barge - with ramp - capacity 300 tonnes approx.
28m x 8.5m x 2m (laden draft) or 0.5 (light draft).
General: Non-powered, heavily built, all steel barge set up with a large bin and equipped with a new ramp capable of at least 50 tonne weight.
Layout: Raised deck house forward on port side. Hydraulic anchor winch on foredeck. Large bin with a capacity of approximately 300 tonnes. Bin dimensions 17.8m x 7.0m x 1.8m.Engine room below in the forward section.
Machinery: 2/53 GM diesel with Rockford clutch drives hydraulic pumps and build systems. In addition, there are 2 x stern hydraulic operated thrusters operated by the hydraulic power pack. Manoeuvrable.
2009 Fiji Drydocking: - Water blast hull – Ultra Scan thickness test – the Fiji authorities to have a steel thickness of not less than 5 mil, in fact, the vessel averaged 7-8mil, no replating whatsoever was required – replace zincs – mark load lines – all general maintenance items attended to – new antifoul.
Survey: Was previously in New Zealand Safe Ship Management. Issued 4/05. New Zealand Loadline Cert. New Zealand International Tonnage Cert, Gross Tonnage 150T, Net Tonnage 45T, issued 20/08/2007. New Zealand Barge Safety Cert issued 20/08/2007, valid until 05/12/2012. Vessel currently undergoing final stages of a Fiji survey.
History: Between 1995 and 1997 this vessel underwent a million dollar refit, carried out by Hartstonge Engineering Ltd, Raglan, New Zealand. Vessel was completely rebuilt with massive structural steel beams, resulting in immense strength. Later carried sand/dolomite 300 tonne loads at 550mm. Approximately 3 years ago, vessel was again sandblasted and upgraded – new ramp, new hydraulic power pack etc.
Brokers Comments Barge: Versatile. The vessel has readily carried 160cubic metres of sand. Also has carried 12 x TEU’s some stacked 2 x high & extra spare deck space. The vessel impresses as being very strongly built. The 1997 rebuild was obviously very well designed with strength and durability being the keynote. These vessels very rare on the market. We urge buyers to move quickly.

200 tonne payload cold weather Hoverbarge
In the final stages of completion This is a 200 tonne payload Hoverbarge designed for use in extreme cold weather, down to -40°c. The hull has been built to Lloyd’s certification and is due to be classified by The Russian River Register under an Experimental Flag. Length: 45.0m, Width: 25.0m, Free Deck Area: 36m x 16m, Hover Height: 1.80m, Ground Pressure on hover: 1 psi, Minimum Operating temperature: -40°C, Power: 4 x CAT 3412 Diesel Generators, Lift: 4 x Centrifugal fans, Accommodation: 5 twin en-suite bunk rooms (insulated for cold weather). Galley & Mess Room. Materials: Manufactured from EH36 steel.
Construction
Constructed as a mono hull, providing an extremely strong and lightweight structure. The steel used is EH36 grade for cold weather. The hull has been tested and certified by Lloyds and the deck can withstand a load of 10 tonnes per square meter. There are two ramps on the Hover barge on the bow and stern, providing great flexibility for loading and unloading.
Skirt System
Using natural rubber suitable for the extreme cold weather the skirt finger provides a strong flexible system unlike high speed hovercraft. For extra protection against ice, a special patented wear pad on the front fingers has been included. This was developed after the experienced gained performing ice breaking using a Hoverbarge for the US Coast Guard. A spray skirt overhangs the fingers to reduce spray. The hover height produce by the skirt system is 1.8m, allowing the Hoverbarge to move over uneven ground and objects.
The Deck Area
The Hoverbarge has been designed to leave the large cargo deck area free, with D ring lashing points built within the deck. Two 20 tonne winches are provided to enable cargo handling along with four 5 tonne mooring winches. A hydraulic telescopic crane with an 8 tonnes capacity is situated at the bow of the Hoverbarge, excellent for recovering tangled anchors.
Deckhouses
The wheel house is fully insulated with a lobby and meeting table for comfort. The windows are heated along with heated wipers to allow good visibility in the extreme cold. The control panel allows precision adjustment of the fan to adjust the hover height, along with GPS, electronic compass, electronic charts, wind speed, VHF radio and PA system.
The galley provides all the amenities required for 10 people including a dishwasher, cooker, microwave, toaster, fryer, coffee machine and fridge. There is a separate hand wash basin from the main sink. The store room next door contains a further fridge and two chest freezers. The mess room is situated next to the galley, with a dining table, benches and a sofa area. The accommodation comprises of 5 twin bunk en-suite rooms, with hand built solid wood furniture. All living areas are fully insulated for extreme cold weather, with all double glazed windows having the option of being closed by insulated covers. |

Just completed a full re-fit of hull machinery and electrics and fully repainted.
Originally built to carry 300 ton of oil on the River Thames to class 1A. Extended to carry up to 450 ton in 1987 now Class 9A.
Propulsion by a 8 cyl 240 hp Gardner Diesel L3B (fully reconditioned in 2008), direct coupled to a Stoddert and Pitt 200 ton p/h pump coupled to all tanks with 8’’ discharger line. No 1 Auxiliary Gardner 36hp 3cyl 20kw generator (fully reconditioned 2009) with a close coupled 60ton p/h ballast pump. No 2 Auxiliary with 24hp Gardner 2cyl 12kw 110v generator driving the Windlass pump.
Accommodation: Consists of two twin bunk cabins and with a saloon and heads aft with store and workshop in the folkshole.
